Frontier University was founded some years ago in Mogadishu City by a small group of prominent Somali intellectuals and educators.

Years of history and education
Frontier University (FU) was established in late 2011. FU offers a wide range of industry-relevant programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, currently enrolling thousands of undergraduate and diploma students across Somalia. FU accomplishes its programs with quality education in management, humanities, and science, aiming to produce qualified, skillful graduates with excellent leadership and communication abilities. FU promises to continue providing outstanding educational opportunities to its students and bridge the talent gap. FU understands the importance of research and development and aims to achieve the status of an internationally renowned research university.
In 2019 Frontier University opened another campus in Garowe, Puntland State of Somalia. The Frontier University Garowe Campus has seven main faculties: Agriculture & Natural Sciences, Education, Engineering & Computer Science, Economics, Management & Social Sciences, Medicine & Health Sciences, Security Studies, Justice and Ethics, and Sharia & Law. Each faculty contains several departments, offering courses designed to produce graduates with technical capacity as well as qualities such as strong leadership, good behavioral and communication skills, analytical thinking ability, and managerial, business, and social competencies. This ensures that graduates are well-equipped to handle the challenges of the 21st century and contribute positively to the development of Somalia and the world as a whole.
